Nate had two weekdays in a row off and the night in between it actually wasn't supposed to rain (like every other time he had off the past month!) and so we thought we could find a camping spot… well, it was about 95* and SO humid and even the camp host looked at us like we were a little crazy when we arrived… Trying to make the best of the heat, and the masses of flies, and the very hungry mosquitos, we built a fire, made dinner, and waited for it to cool off as night came on. And waited, and waited, and finally at 9:30 with the poor kids sweating like crazy in the tent and Carter begging to go home, we packed up by firelight (yes, forgot all of our flashlights!) and were out of there by 10. We sat on the couch in our cool, air conditioned basement and ate DQ cake and I have never been so happy to have abandoned a vacation. :) If you needed proof that it was really that miserable (and that we are not just whimpy!), here is a picture of the kiddos as we abandon camp.
