• Carter's school did their spring sing this week!  While he is definitely our reserved performer, he did a great job and it was so fun to watch him!

I loved watching his face when they did the 3 little pigs song and his teacher, Miss Tammy, was the big bad wolf!

    IMG_4961

My favorite part was seeing him backstage when I helped the class get ready for their special finale black light song…

    Pretty awesome, buddy!

And weather hot enough for squirters until the snow we got on May Day!

Took the Webelos on a hike… and survived.  Meg loved the backpack, and Carter hiked the whole way without complaining.  It couldn't have gone better… and it certainly could have gone a whole lot worse!!  So much relief when this was over…

  • Obviously, this boy has never been given full access to a bottle of glue.  Not only did glue go on the back of the shapes, but it covered the front of them as well.  It made his day… and then took 3 days to dry.  :)

And I love Emma's pictures of the First Vision and the Salt Lake Temple.

And Zach, reading something within arm's reach, since he was obviously too tired to get up and put away his church shirt or get the book he is in the middle of.  (I found him reading one of Emma's old Littlest Pet Shop books the other day and he said, "When I'm too tired to get up and get a book I want to read, I just read whatever's closest to me… someone else's book, the toothbrush box, the tag on the rug…" and I couldn't help but smile, thinking of how many times he's probably read that tag on the bathroom rug.  :)

Family pictures with the Woodward clan ended up being quite a success!

At one of Zach's baseball games where the air temp was 32* and the wind was howling out of the canyon, this was the only way to not freeze to death.  It was the coldest I can remember being in a long time!!

  • For FHE, we attended the Art Walk at the kids' school… where we got to see all the great stuff they've created this year!  I got to help in Emma's class with art, so had seen some of her stuff, but Zach's was all new.  We also had the opportunity to purchase some of the art… we came home with a decorated canvas bag and an Anasazi pot.  So now that they've sold work for $$, they're professional artists.  :)

There are few days as a parent that are more special than a baptism day!  Emma has been counting down… ever since last fall she could give you the date of her baptism!  She was very prepared and so excited when the big day finally arrived.

    DSC01150

She was baptized with 3 darling girls from her primary class, and all the baptismal candidates sang "If the Savior Stood Beside Me" as part of the program.  She wore an enormous smile the whole time.

Afterwards, family came back to our house to have her treat of choice – homemade oreos, butterfly sugar cookies, and pink lemonade.  (She and I had a good time in the days leading up to the baptism making them together!)

The primary presidency brought her a beautiful white rose, which she loved.  She kept saying, "I can't belive I have a real, actual rose!"

It was Emma's idea to have everyone who came write their favorite scripture down so that she could mark them in her new scriptures.  She loved having so many special family members there to participate!

She ended the day by writing in her new journal – having those precious newly baptized children share with you the record of their sacred experience is one of the highlights of my life as a mom.

It was a very special day for a very special girl!

By that I mean, he's FIVE!  Five all of a sudden seems really old to me.

    DSC01118

He really wanted a bike.  And hot wheels.  So of course a hot wheels bike.  :)  (and yes, those are cheeto fingers at 7am… but in my defense, they were part of the present, and not meant to be opened just yet!)

Took the new bike out for a spin to invite a couple of neighborhood buddies to a little birthday party later in the week…

He wanted to eat "at a restaurant" – since we never do.

And cake with the grandparents afterwards.  Whew!  What a day.  I love the crazy in this kid.  (this is what he did when I asked him to hold up 5 fingers.)  Love his sweet random "I love you, mom!", and that he always wants to hold my hand.  Love that I have a few more months before I have to send him to school every day!

(also, love that there are no more birthdays to celebrate for a while, we are exhausted. 🙂
