It was a warm day (by February Minnesota standards!) and the kids spent the afternoon playing outside.  Emma kept yelling, "I think this is spring!!"

And crazy Meg found out she loves jumping down the neighbors steps.  Good thing she still had her helmet from bike riding on.  :)

And happy cheesecake.  You can eat the whole thing.  :)

  • A famous Lego artist had an exhibit come to Park City, and since Zach had admired his creations for years, we had to go check it out.  It was quite the adventure… and we may or may not have moved a small yellow piece from a pile of loose bricks that you were not supposed to touch…

Inspired by the exhibit, here is Emma's UT sculpture.

If it wasn't such a busy week, the grandparents may have gotten a card that looked like this.  :)  Perhaps next year…  (can you tell someone would have nothing to do with letters on their feet?)

All morning as we went about our crazy day, I kept finding these… even one in the midst of the clean (but not folded or put away) laundry where Nate had had to rummage for socks… now that is love.  :)

I got to be in charge of Zach's class party… that was an adventure.  I was more worried than I needed to be, and it turned out great.

I had forgtten when I volunteered for Zach's party that I was also in charge of Carter's class party… it is always fun to see him in his class.  He has the cutest teachers.  And he got to be in charge of the snack… he picked red jello and those animal cookies with sprinkles.  He did think I was a little silly to take a picture right before we left…  and can you tell how much he loved his valentine treats?

zach's last-minute valentine box (which turned out to be way too small to hold the kind of valentines his classmates brought (like a can of soda!) and the best part of V-day, family fondue night.

Emma left valentine notes hidden around the house for everyone… we all loved them!  There was one in Nate's shoe that said "You are a gift to me."  Did I say we loved these?!?

My mom and I spent an afternoon making cake balls… there was a lot of laughing.  Super fun.

Carter and Meg helped me make sugar cookies for our little decorating party… I turned my back for a second to get something out and Meg dragged in her own "stool" – creative, yes, but NOT safe.  :)

Always love having my grandma, the cousins are super fun, and my aunt was even in town with my cousin's little boy so they came too!

And of course the valentine making.  Carter wrote his own name on every single one!

When I took Zach to IHOP for his birthday, the waitress told us about "free pancake day" – a fundraiser they do where they give everyone all day 3 free pancakes each, and they take donations  for the children's hospital.  Of course Zach asked me over and over again if it was free pancake day yet, and since Nate had a late night on "the day",  I figured I'd be brave (or crazy!) and take everyone to IHOP for dinner.

I will say this – I am glad we went early.  We only waited about 5 minutes to be seated, but the people who came 15 minutes later probably waited at least 45.  Also I am glad the kids were on their very best behavior.  Even so, all 4 of them + syrup + crowded resturant = glad we made it out alive.

  • Kids are awesome.  Some examples:

Carter used every bit of blue chalk we had to make "bear lake".  And he knew just what he wanted the sled and rakes for.  It isn't often he independently heads off with a big plan and does his own thing… I loved watching this!

And this girl with her washcloths.  Must have one (at least!) at all times.  As you can see, they serve many purposes…

After many, many years of spurts of "working on" family history, I got the first set of my ancestors' names ready for temple work and my dad and I went to do the baptisms for them this morning.  I kept thinking all day long that Elder Scott was right:  "…it will make you feel wonderful."

  • IMG_3840Even with the stool drug out from the bathroom, the cookies were just too far back on the counter… can you tell how she feels about that?  (Before you feel bad for her, just know she had already had plenty…)

  • This time we shoveled after school and everyone played out in it all afternoon… building a snow fort and defending castles from invaders.  And eating the snow, of course.  It's apparently impossible not to.
