Hooray for Grandparents!  Grandma and Grandpa Adams were able to come out for visit this past week, and it was so much fun.  Of course there was baseball for Zach, good food, blastpad for Emma (Grandpa was more fun than me and went outside in the cold and wind to watch), more good food, and Christmas bingo – a tradition of the Adams family that we miss not being there for Christmas but that they bring to us!  They also got to be there for Zach's primary talk, which was really fun.  Carter was taken with Grandpa Adams, too – we figured we'd have a built-in babysitter if we could just get him not to fly home.  Maybe if it had been warmer we'd have an easier time convincing him.  Here are a few pics from the visit – thanks for coming, Craig and Becky!  DSC01911

  • I love the day after Thanksgiving… growing up, my family always used to go cut down our Christmas tree on this day and it was full of so many fun memories.  Now, far away from Flaming Gorge and the $5 live tree, our family builds up our Christmas tree on the day after Thanksgiving.  Even though it smells different and looks different and actually is the opposite of our long-held tradition, it is making so many fun memories.  DSC01865DSC01867DSC01868

  • DSC01887Isn't this the cutest hat!?!  It is a Christmas tree beanie knitted by a sweet lady in our ward.  I think Carter loves it as much as I do!

    Dear friends and family -

We love this time of year to reconnect!  Hopefully a click here and there will give you an idea of what we've been up to this year, as once again we have neglected to write a Christmas letter.  We are grateful for our associations with you over the years and the influence you have had on our lives.  We hope your Christmas season is filled with the love of the Savior whose birth we celebrate, and the hope and joy He has brought to the world.  Merry Christmas!
    Love,
Nate, Steph, Zach, Emma, and Carter
  • For food (see Emma drinking the container of sprinkles – it started out more than 1/2 full – her Thanksgiving feast)…DSC01850friends (the kids had the time of their lives running out into the freezing night, scaring themselves imagining "bad guys", and running back in to their "secret safe meeting place" downstairs)… family (here is little Carter for his first Thanksgiving)…for the gospel, good health, a warm house,  and an abundance of other blessings.  All good things come from God, and we are so grateful!  DSC01860

Here she is – our pretty ballerina in her latest dance class "recital".  She took the class this time with our little neighbor friend and she LOVED everything about it.  Her favorite part was the scented stamp her teacher gave at the end of each class… and she'd always come running out with the biggest smile sticking her hand out to show us.  The month until dance class starts again is way too long… good thing when you're 3 you can wear a leotard every day until then anyways.

  • Then I certainly am over the limit.  But I just can't help it!  I love the way he lays down when he's worn out; the big grin, the little feet that rub against each other while he eats, the squealing, and the snuggles.  Here are some of my favorite recent photos of my little munchkin, who can get himself up into a sitting position now, and who just learned to wave (which is adorable, but he won't do it for the camera).DSC01762DSC01780DSC01785DSC01836

We had a little friend of Zach's spend the weekend with us when his parents were out of town, so on Saturday Nate took Emma to run some errands, look at toys, and go to lunch.  She came home positively beaming – partly from her soda (that I couldn't get her to stop sipping, even for the picture) but mostly from all the fun and attention from Dad.

Zach adores Carter, and Carter adores Zach.  Zach talks to him in his special "Carter voice" and Carter grins and squeals and is so happy.  Here is a picture taken after I gave up trying to put Carter down for a nap because Zach kept talking to him and he kept laughing.

  • The first official snow of the season – flurries don't count – and of course the kids were out and playing in it by 8 am.  (This ended up being a good thing because it was pretty much melted by 10…)  Oh to be a kid again and be so excited to have cold hands and feet… and in Emma's case a cold face, since she spends most of her time eating the snow.  They laughed like crazy throwing snowballs at the door (at me, too whimpy to head outside until I felt bad for Carter and took him out to join the fun.)  DSC01728DSC01729DSC01737
