• Zach was so excited about the primary program at church.  They made invitations in sharing time to give to a friend, and he invited his little buddy from preschool, who ended up coming with his dad and sister!  Zach was so happy.  We have 140 + kids in our ward, so their parts for the program were all one-liners and they go over the time limit anyways.  The funny part was that Zach got a little mixed up, and actually went up to the podium and said his part twice – (doing an excellent job both times) – and the funnier part was his friend's dad, who said "when Zach got up a second time, I wondered if they were ALL going to go twice!!"  Poor man, thought he'd be stuck in this Mormon meeting for the rest of his life.  :)

  • I set him down where I am standing to take the picture, put something away in the bathroom, and walked back to find him making his way to here… watch out world, somehow I don't thing crawling is that far away.DSC01539

Oh, that summer here in Minnesota could last forever!  The summers are just gorgeous!  Fall has always been my favorite season… but with summer so beautiful and winter coming after fall, I haven't been as excited about it as usual.  And Emma, my water girl, couldn't agree more.  She says, laughing, "I want to play in the water EVERY DAY while Zach's at school!"  And she does.  We likely had our last really warm week this past week – and we lived it up.  Pool, slip n slide, more pool… here is Emma putting sunscreen on her baby.  We'll take summer weather as long as it lasts… and enjoy fall when it comes, but we certainly aren't in any rush.

Our little guy LOVES to be outside!  This was taken in his favorite spot… under the trees in the shade of the garage where he and I have spent many summer afternoons watching the big kids play.  He loves to look up at the trees blowing in the wind and is just so happy!  This is his new look… he smiles while sucking on his lower lip and blows spit bubbles.  (The video is so long only grandparents may want to brave it… I'm not smart enough to edit the clips yet!)Download MOV01531.MPG

  • Nate had a dinner for work on Friday, but had told the kids we could maybe camp out… I had given Emma a nap just in case, but when he didn't get home till 8:30 I figured we'd try another night.  Nate is a nicer parent, however… and Emma was so excited he couldn't say no.  So I went for firewood while they set up the tent, starting our camping adventure around 9.  (Good thing it's just the backyard!)  The kids stargazed, Zach fell asleep in the tent, we roasted mallows and ate smores and Emma finally crashed about 11.  Carter slept so good outside… probably his best night's sleep yet!  Isn't that the smile of a baby who's well rested?!  And the kids helped Nate make "the best scrambled eggs in the WORLD!"  for breakfast.  I am so glad Nate talked me out of thinking it was too late – as usual, it was so much fun!

As on many mornings – I woke up to find Zach dressing Emma in baseball gear.  And Dad built a dugout in the backyard… so it was a baseball day.  As are most days around here!  We really can't get enough…

Here is Emma in her big girl bed – freeing up the toddler bed/crib for Carter (once he and I stop sleeping on the couch).  Be impressed – since it was a low-budget item Nate and I had to put it together piece by piece… we are expert craftsmen.  The funny thing is, now she wants to sleep in the old bed again.  Like I said, we're still on the couch… so I guess it doesn't really matter!

  • When I was tucking Zach in tonight, he said, "Do you know what Logan said today?  'Missed me, missed me, now you have to kiss me!'".  It brought back a flood of memories of those things all elementary school kids say… what do you think he'll bring home next?

They don't call it that for nothing, that's for sure!  Emma's preschool group had been talking about the book Ping which is about a duck, so we thought it would be fun to go feed some ducks at a little lake downtown.  It was!  I also thought (given how often I have to tell my kids to only say potty words in the bathroom) that they would love the name.  Zach actually said to me, "Mommy, don't call it goose poop park ANYMORE!"  (Turns out he thought there were piles of it… no wonder he was bothered.)   Emma was a little nervous (you can tell the ducks were pretty agressive… they didn't let the girls even get to the grass before they had surrounded them waiting for the bread!)  But they both loved it, and of course we ran out of bread before the kids (or the ducks) had had enough.  I'm sure we'll be back!

  • DSC01486To celebrate his 5 month mark, Carter decided to roll over, both ways.  He has been so much more comfortable sleeping on his tummy!!  Hooray for you, little man!
