It has taken me so long to get a good video of Carter!  He is always doing the cutest things and then as soon as I pull out the camera he stops and just stares at the camera instead.  This is his "whiny" voice – not so bad as a 3 or 5 year old whiny voice because the alternative is full-on crying.  Someday I'll capture the cute happy talking… but here's this for now.  Download MOV01290_1.MPG

  •   At the Fellows' Fair over the weekend Emma really wanted to do this slide.  She couldn't convince Zach to go – and she could barely climb up – and she looked a bit nervous on the way down – but she loved it.  She is my brave girl – and she gets it from Nate, not me.DSC01292DSC01293

The summer reading program at the library gave away tickets to the college summer league Honkers baseball team's game if you read 12 hours.  The kids were thrilled.   In the picture, Emma's head is covering the boy that Zach poured about 2/3 of his bottle of water on while reaching for some popcorn… we are just glad he was so good natured about it so we can all laugh about it (including Zach, who always makes a sheepish face and says "I thought the lid was on!")  It couldn't have been Emma's soda… she starts sucking on the straw and doesn't stop to take a breath till it's gone.

  • After our trip to the Twins game Emma and Zach woke up the next morning wanting to play "ticket counter".  This involved setting up a table in the front yard and flagging down/chasing down neighbors while yelling "TWINS TICKETS FOR SALE!  FIVE DOLLARS!!!"  Yes, used Twins tickets.  That they wanted back later that day.  What?  No buyers?  The signs they are holding say "roll down your windows when you drive through this cul-de-sac".  Emma actually chased one guy halfway down to the corner (on the grass, since that was the rule) waving her tickets, and he came over later that day to ask me if I knew she was chasing him out of the neighborhood.  (I was watching from the door where he couldn't see me still in my jammies…)  They each made a quarter off of Nate which they each lost in the grass throwing it up into the air to watch it roll down the driveway.  An interesting, if not lucrative, morning.  DSC01259DSC01263

Emma loves to play babies during quiet time – apparently it wore her out today because this is how I found her after all of her babies were taken care of.  What mom doesn’t need a good nap after that?

  • Zach really wanted everyone in Twins gear.  And I really wanted a picture.  And Carter really didn’t want anything to do with it.  Have I ever mentioned that we LIVE baseball around here?  We do.   DSC01273

We had some friends over to play and as you can see, boys will be boys and girls will be girls.  It was a lovely day of no fighting between my own two since they were having so much fun with the friends!   (the boys by the way were completely convinced no one could see them in their camo…)

  • DSC01235Look at that… she did it all by herself.  Both hands, even!  Can’t say I’d do that well…

Download MOV01255.MPG  Here it is… our little slugger in his t-ball game.  He is batting left handed because Mauer (catcher for the Twins) does.   Nice hit, Zach!   (for some reason the movie thing has changed… click on the red download thing and it should play.)

Looks like they’ve done it before, huh?  I am so grateful for our great grandmas!  They have a special way with kids that bespeaks years of experience and wisdom.  It was fun to get to spend time with them on our trip to Salt Lake!
