• Dsc00063_2Dsc00052 Well of course the grandparents are more fun than me… they don’t discipline or make you eat anything you don’t want; they bring you presents and cookies and don’t have to do any housework so they can just play all day long. Zach made sure I understood that while I was still cool, they were definitely more fun! Here are some photos of when my parents were out for Zach’s birthday.

I can’t believe it, but it’s true… Zach is 5!!! He has been waiting for months to “catch up” to his other 5 year old friends and was so excited for his birthday! It was fun to have Grandma and Grandpa B in town for the occasion – and Zach caught on quick to the Woodward tradition of “birthday service” in which the birthday person can ask for any type of service and get it. Everyone ought to get one day a year like that, right?! We celebrated his birthday playing, taking a treat in to preschool, and going bowling. (Zach had great form!) Birthdays are always bittersweet for me… realizing they are growing up so fast is sad but seeing what a great kid he is becoming is wonderful. Happy Birthday, 5 year old Zach!

  • Dsc00044The kids woke up before me on the day grandparents were coming to visit… and apparently had set up camp by the window to wait for their arrival. Luckily it was garbage day and they had the trucks to watch until they got distracted – Grandma and Grandpa didn’t get there till 4!

  • Dsc00040Even with all the snow we have had so far this year (we haven’t seen the grass since the first snow) we hadn’t made a snowman yet… and Emma kept asking “when can we make Frosty?” The snow was always the wrong kind or it was too cold or the snowstorm had ended with an ice storm and it just wouldn’t work. Finally, though, we had a nice 37* day and the snow melted enough to be molded (unfortunately not rolled like a snowman should be) into Frosty. The kids were thrilled and we had to make him facing our house right in between their bedrooms so they could both see him from their windows. The way the weather forecast looks right now, he may last the rest of winter! (No melting anytime soon!)

  • Pc261511_2… after 100+ rides down the tube slide. We went to an indoor waterpark for a little family vacation this week – what fun. They wouldn’t let obviously pregnant people on the slide so Nate would switch back and forth while I waited at the bottom… the kids had a ball and Nate survived. Ah, he was still smiling… even on day 2… so he must have had some fun too!

Pc141449Grandma B sends us one of these every year to do, and the kids love it. It is hilarious to watch their individual personalities come out in the decorating… Emma licks all the candy before she puts it on, then pulls it off and sucks on it some more (can you tell her mouth is blue from gumdrops?)… and Zach follows the “plan” (the picture on the box) exactly. We had a great time. And Nate is probably right… it probably will stay up until February!

Pc251481Well, we didn’t hear him… but Santa came! And he even brought a “water tower” (otherwise known as a bed canopy) for Emma and had an extra Delta jet in his sleigh to accomodate Zach’s last minute (Christmas Eve) list change… what a guy. Christmas with kids sure is fun!!!

  • Pc181454
Pc181451_4It was Zach’s idea… and Emma loved it… and I think they are just so cute. Merry Christmas to all of you!

We were lucky enough to have Nate’s parents brave the Rochester cold and come out for a visit at the beginning of the month – it is always so fun to see family. We had a great time hanging out and even took Nate to see his first Cabela’s – the kids love the animals and the fish tank and of course had to try out all of the tents and cots. I am sure the grandparents got their fill of baseball and pretend “pizza” (Emma has been quite the little cook lately) and we even got to play some Christmas bingo (an Adams family tradition.) We wish as always they could have stayed longer!

  • Us1_3Can you guess? Yes, it’s a baby… and… it’s a boy! We are so excited… perhaps noone more than Zach. He got the biggest grin and said “I am going to build him a bike that he can ride until he can ride a bike with training wheels!” I am due May 2nd so am about 21 weeks… and we aren’t good at getting the news out so this is the first most of you have heard about it! (sorry…) Anyways, that’s our big news!
