For our family vacation this year we decided to take a 2 day camping trip to Tony Grove in Logan canyon. I wondered at our sanity when we first decided (it's been a while since we've camped somewhere other than our backyard and we've never done 2 nights!), and then wondered again getting everything ready — but it was absolutely wonderful. We had such a good time! We ended up with a great campsite where Meg could run and the kids could explore; we had great food, (although next time we'll bring triple the Oreos), the raft and the lake were so much fun (much better than this time), and we didn't get any cell phone reception whatsoever (so nice to have a break!). It was the perfect family trip! Prepare for picture overload – I just can't choose. (and that's with both of our phones – the only cameras we had – dying midway through the trip!)
We hiked around the lake – twice – and the kids found some great places to climb…
Nate took Zach "off-road" hiking up to the top of the ridge, while Meg fell asleep and the other kiddos blew up the raft all by themselves!
Hanging out at camp – Zach loved that fact that no one tells you not to de-bark a tree that's already fallen.
Morning hot chocolate
Meg loves wearing life jackets – even (especially!) when she's nowhere near the water. And when we did get in the water, Emma ended up so cold she was wearing life jackets on the shore just to get warm. (Where was her towel, you might ask? Someone who will remain nameless told me that they didn't remember anyone ever swimming in this lake… so towels weren't necessary. That someone ended up swimming in their clothes…)
Meg loved the endless supply of cheese balls (and dirt)…
And Nate got a much-needed chance to really relax – can't remember the last time he's had 48 + hours of that.
Grandma and Grandpa Adams drove up one night to bring some treats and hike around with us.
And Nate's phone charged enough to document that Ellie came with us on the trip just in time – right as we were (tearfully) heading out. (You can blame the girl's need for a photo on her crazy mother!)
We'll be back…
