The last day of school went something like this:

We spent a [very long for the little ones] hour at the awards assembly at the school – both kids' teachers had secretly invited me, and it was fun to see them surprised and excited about their awards.  Emma was chosen as a community of caring student of the year (she has had lots of chances in her class this year to be an extra kind friend and really was awesome!) and Zach won the math olympiad for his grade, which yielded quite the trophy.  He unexpectedly stopped to high five me on his way up to get the trophy, which made the whole crazy hour worth the wait.  :)

Afterwards, I took the littles to the splashpad to reward them for their great behavior.  I love watching Carter stand under the bucket to get soaked, and then run away with the biggest smile every time.

Meg on the other hand is content to stomp and play in the water that collects by the drain.  :)

After we picked up the kids, Zach informed us he was supposed to go to an end-of-school swimming party at a friends', leading me to take everyone else swimming to make it "fair."

And when Nate came home, we ended the crazy day with ice cream.  It was a good year, and a fun day of celebrating the end of it!
