I printed this off for my laundry room only days before the stomach flu hit our house… how providential. It was a good reminder, since the piles were abundant this week!

Been thinking a lot lately about the blessing of having a prophet. I am certain that he (and those who serve with him) speak the words of God. Just like those that joined Noah in the ark, I believe with all my heart that following the living prophet will keep us safe, and bring us blessings.
I absolutely love conference weekend. Even when half the house has the stomach flu. :)

Part of our spring break to-do list was hiking Ensign Peak, and luckily, spring break had a great spring day for us to do it!
I've always loved hiking Ensign Peak, having read as a kid the story of my great-great-grandpa hiking it from his journal (when he figured, once he got to the top, that his hike was going to make him late for church… 🙂
The hike was just the right length, and everyone made sure to bring their binoculars to enjoy the view at the top.Yes, Meg and I were there too… and it was really windy!!And, Zach thought he spotted some eagles flying over the mountain… and Meg was sure the radio towers (or whatever they are) were the "eagles" he was talking about, and kept pointing them out for the rest of the hike. :)In the interest of full disclosure, the summit was really the best part of the experience – after that, well, you could say it was all downhill from there. :)But, we all recovered and ended up making a nice afternoon of it with a picnic at Liberty Park. -

We always see families at the zoo with their Dad, and I always think, "how fun that they get to be at the zoo with their dad!" Nate had such a busy summer and fall last year that he never made it with us… but on his [only] day of spring break, it was US who had our dad at the zoo!
Doesn't he look happy to be there? So fun for all of us (even though it was NOT warm.) -
The Saturday before Easter was a busy day! Nate and Zach went with Grandpa Adams to a MLB exhibition game here in Salt Lake, while the younger kids went to egg hunt #1 at the neighbor's house:
And then an egg hunt at the Woodward's…
Sorting the loot…
And then we met up with the boys for an early Easter dinner and egg hunt at the Adams'.
Just hangin' out with Grandpa.
It was a beautiful day spent with family!

Emma woke up to a birthday bike… which she seemed pretty excited about. :)
She also had the good fortune of having spring break start on her birthday, so even though it was a Thursday it was early day – she chose to spend the afternoon at the zoo!
We loved watching the primates eat right at the window, and Carter graciously let Emma ride the dolphin on the carousel as a birthday gift. :)
Emma always likes to help make her own cake… and thank goodness, because the soccer cake is hard!
She got her own set of scriptures for the big birthday!
And after fondue for dinner, she had both sets of grandparents over for cake and ice cream… although we only got a picture of one set.
She ended the night with lego building in her matching girl/doll pjs. Happy birthday, 8 year old Emma! We sure love you!

Meg spent the evening telling me "Mommy! Lay down! Do horsie!" Meaning, let her ride on my legs while I sing the horsie song…
Having a good mother evening, I obliged until my legs were super tired (doesn't take long when your main form of exercise is child chasing…) and told her the horsie was tired and had to rest. She just looked at me and said, "You need new batteries," poked me in the stomach a few times, and climbed back on, confident that she had solved the problem. 🙂

Hoping to get some pictures for Emma's baptism invitations, I took the kids downtown for a photo shoot/visitors center fhe. Nate was out of town (not sure if this helped or hurt my cause. :) It was much colder and windier than the forecast, and Zach was coming down with a nasty cold (both of those definitley hurt the cause.) I loved the ones I ended up with of Emma, and I think we got some other good ones as well… although a lot of them look kind of like this:
We captured memories, anyways! :) (And if anyone has favorites, let me know… some of these will hopefully be making their way to decorate my empty walls!)

It isn't easy letting your baby turn two…
but since it was going to happen whether I liked it or not, I figured we might as well enjoy it. :)
She got to pick out a "daniel tiger" at the toy store… since there are no real Daniel Tiger toys yet (and since I always say "no!" to stuff she wants at the store I thought she'd love to go home with something!)
(I thought it was so cute – and pretty amazing – how excited Carter was for her all day long!)
and of course watch Daniel Tiger on TV…
Grandparents (and uncle Joe) stopped by to bring a present…
Don't know who was happier – the recipient, or Emma, who loves to give gifts!
By this point in the day she was getting used to the idea of opening presents!
her birthday wish: a trip to the pool, and burgers for dinner.
I loved how much she loved her cake. When I first showed it to her, she said, "It's Daniel Tiger! Hi, Daniel Tiger!" Luckily she had no problem eating it… no need for a fork or plate even, apparently.
